Kendall and Alyson Buchanan

Kendall and Alyson were married last Thurday-May 15, 2008. They are such a darling couple and their love for each other was evident in their eyes and their beautiful smiles. Karl and Kate have had two wonderful additions to their family in just a matter of days! Carolynn and Matt were there with their beautiful new baby daughter Kaiya. She seemed to take everything in stride!

Mother's Day!

To all the mothers in the Buchanan family-I want to wish you a happy day. I feel so blessed to be in the same family with you. I learn so much from you-the way you nurture, teach, take on new projects, manage and love your families, and continue to be the great examples you are to me.

Dad's Green Root Beer

When we were growing up, we all knew our dad's preferences: a "real" plate at the dinner table, black licorice, two poached eggs for breakfast, frozen water from a gallon-sized Clorox bottle, mincemeat pie, and oyster stew on Saturday night. And did we mention green root beer?

Huh?

Mac's soda pop came in clear glass bottles before the days when soda was measured in liters. It must have been two quarts or so, in black cherry, root beer, orange and lemon-lime flavors, with the latter a limey (no doubt artificial) shade of green. On Sunday evenings, we often had popcorn and ice cream floats while we watched the weekly Kennecott movie. Dad's favorite was the lemon lime soda, and we always had it on hand for such an occasion. But we don't recall ever hearing "lemon lime"; Dad called it "green root beer".

We named our blog "Green Root Beer" because we hope our sweet memories of past times will create the background to share and record our everyday history as it happens in the present and into the future. Welcome to the Buchanan Family Blah Blah Blog...feel free to post your stories and pictures!
